Whole House Water Filtration

A whole house system treats your water where it enters the building, before it reaches your showers, faucets, laundry and appliances.

The Black Diamond whole-house carbon filter

On municipal water that usually means dealing with chlorine or chloramine residual, taste and odor, and sediment picked up on the way to the house.

We start every job with a free in-home water test. What the readings say, not a sales script, decides whether filtration makes sense for your home and which configuration fits.

What this system addresses

Chlorine and chloramine

Utilities disinfect with chlorine or chloramine, and a residual is still in the water when it reaches your tap. Activated carbon is the technology normally used to reduce it.

Disinfection byproducts

When disinfectants react with organic matter they can form trihalomethanes and haloacetic acids. Carbon filtration is the usual approach to those compounds.

Sediment and particles

Aging distribution mains and well water both introduce sand, silt and rust. Sediment pre-filtration protects the equipment and fixtures downstream of it.

Taste and odor

A chemical or earthy taste at the tap is the most common thing customers call us about. The media we choose depends on what your test identifies as the cause.

Chloramine specifically

Ordinary carbon struggles with chloramine. Where a utility uses it, we specify catalytic carbon instead, which is made for that job.

Appliance protection

Treating at the point of entry means your water heater, washer and dishwasher all run on filtered water rather than just the kitchen tap.

Signs to watch for

  • Water tastes or smells of chlorine, often strongest first thing in the morning
  • A yellow or brown tint, particularly on well water
  • Visible particles or cloudiness when you fill a glass
  • Musty or earthy odors from the taps
  • You are on a surface-water utility and want to know your disinfection byproduct levels

How it works with us

1
